Dr Andrew Cottey

Chair

Andrew Cottey is Jean Monnet Chair in European Political Integration at University College, Cork. He previously worked at the Dept of Peace Studies, University of Bradford; the EastWest Institute; Saferworld; and BASIC. 

Stuart Warner

Treasurer

Stuart Warner, is a Chartered Accountant, Lecturer, Trainer and Author. Stuart joined BASIC’s Board in 2012 to which he brings two decades of experience in finance. Stuart is a director of Financial Fluency, a finance training company based in London, which delivers financial training Internationally. 

Dr Trevor McCrisken

Board Member

Trevor McCrisken, Chair of the BASIC Board since 2007, is Associate Professor in Politics and International Studies at the University of Warwick. He is also a North America Region Head with Oxford Analytica and an adviser to the journal International Affairs. 

David Pritchard

Board Member

David Pritchard advises nonprofit, private, and public sector organizations on how to assess and increase their social impact. He supports effective change-makers by helping them plan and evaluate what they do. 

James Madeley

Board Member

James is an experienced Human Resources professional and currently is HR Director for Portland, a communications company. He is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Sam Walton

Board Member

Sam Walton is a Chief Executive Officer working in the charity sector. Sam brings experience in third sector leadership and governance to the Board and has worked on nuclear weapons for over a decade, with a focus on moral issues around possession and use. 

Melissa Hanham

Board Member

Melissa is an expert on nuclear, chemical and biological weapons and their delivery devices. She uses open source information to analyse capabilities, verify treaties, and make policy recommendations. 

Anita Freidt

Board Member

Anita is an internationally-recognized arms control expert; advanced U.S. national security priorities during highly successful career serving seven U.S. presidents. She has cabinet-level arms control negotiation and diplomatic expertise. She was formerly Senior Advisor, Under Secretary for Arms Control & Intl Security at U.S. Department of State.

Helena Harding

Board Member

Helena is a Non-Executive Director with executive and board level experience and a specialist in organisational development and programme leadership. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and a Fellow of the Institute of Sales and Marketing Management. She has worked within both blue chip PLCs and the public sector, including Radioactive Waste Management Limited (RWM), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA).

Peter is a Chartered Accountant and Vice President for Corporate Strategy at the Royal Bank of Scotland.
