Anthony V. Rinna is a Senior Editor with Sino-NK, a research organization dedicated to analyzing Northeast Asia. Formerly trained as an Eastern Europe specialist, Rinna primarily analyzes the relationship between the Korean Peninsula and Russia. His comments have appeared in media outlets such as the BBC, CNBC, Foreign Policy and The Washington Post. Based on his specialization, he has participated in a strategic assessment project pertaining to the Korean Peninsula at the request of the Joint Staff at the US Department of Defense. Rinna has a working knowledge of Korean, Russian and Spanish, and has lived in South Korea since 2014.

Post-Cold War Russia later modified its position toward its old Cold War ally, and bilateral relations became damaged when the then-USSR established diplomatic ties with South Korea in 1990.
