Video: EVN Anthology Launch: De-siloing Existential Threats

This year, BASIC’s Emerging Voices Network (EVN) organised a new Policy Cycle focused on ‘De-siloing Existential Threats’. With support from the Ploughshares Equity Rises Fund, this EVN Policy Cycle was dedicated to breaking down silos and challenging ideas and approaches within and adjacent to the nuclear policy field. Over six months, five working groups engaged with key issues relating to:

  • Challenging racism and white supremacy in nuclear weapons;
  • Examining and dismantling military-industrial complexes;
  • Increasing equity, diversity, and inclusivity in the nuclear weapons policy field and within the community of practitioners;
  • Nuclear weapons issues and climate change; and
  • Nuclear weapons issues and social justice.

This launch event brought together our Working Group Chairs, each of whom present the findings of their research, and contextualise the discussion around why confronting, reflecting, and addressing these topics is therefore key to transforming contemporary and future nuclear policy decisions in the best interests of peace and security. The Anthology can be read here.
