Emerging Voices Network Senior Expert Masterclass: Journalism Training with John Mecklin

On 18 February 2026, the EVN hosted a Senior Expert Masterclass with John Mecklin on nuclear journalism.

John is editor-in-chief of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. In this Masterclass, John Mecklin focuses on how to turn your writing into a compelling story that will both gain the interest of and inform the reader, and how to then pitch the story to media outlets.

After delivering an excellent presentation on how to research, pitch, and write stories, John then answered questions from several EVN members.

 

 

Expert Masterclasses enable BASIC’s fantastic network of senior nuclear policy experts to share their knowledge with the EVN. Masterclasses are both skills and content-based and are delivered online to make access to expertise more equitable for the EVN’s diverse global membership.
