In October 2025, the EVN launched a new policy cycle with the aim of gathering the expertise of emerging experts on what the future could hold for the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). We believe it is critical that early-career practitioners play a role in shaping the future of the NPT, as well as the present. This policy cycle gave participants the chance to offer their expertise and perspectives on what future pathways could lie ahead for the NPT.
This policy cycle was organised using a workshop-based format to consider future pathways for the NPT, utilising foresight methodologies. Four focus groups each imagined a favourable and an unfavourable future scenario for the treaty. These were then used to inform a set of policy recommendations.
