BASIC’s Emerging Voices Network (EVN) and the Asia-Pacific Leadership Network (APLN) are co-hosting a webinar ‘The Search for Nuclear Justice‘.
Register here to join us on Thursday 14th September, from 13:00 to 14:00 London time.
The webinar will explore fundamental questions about nuclear justice – such as what is nuclear justice and why is nuclear justice being raised with increasing urgency in the global nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament discourse. The entry into force of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) has also been crucial in bringing to the forefront the role of international law and the international community in addressing issues such as victim assistance and environmental remediation of all those affected by past nuclear tests and uses.
The APLN and EVN have brought together a group of senior and early career individuals to debate and explore policy priorities and recommendations that can assist in the urgent need for nuclear justice, such as on victim assistance and environmental remediation.
Through its project on Voices from the Pacific Island Countries, the APLN has been highlighting expert insights on nuclear justice and BASIC’s EVN has also recently published policy papers discussing case studies from the Marshall Islands and French Polynesia in the context of nuclear justice. Both seek to continue these conversations and debates in this webinar event.
