BASIC and the UK Top Level Group to hold event on Trident renewal

BASIC and the UK Top Level Group on Multilateral Nuclear Disarmament and Non-Proliferation held a joint roundtable discussion on Trident renewal on October 12, 2010 in the House of Lords to bring together the analytical community with senior political figures for a focused discussion on issues surrounding Trident renewal. Top Level Group members, BASIC experts, policy makers, academics, members of the scientific community, informed journalists and others attended to explore the issues and their relationship to the UK\’s international role and our wider capabilities and defence budgets.

BASIC
BASIC is an independent transatlantic organisation promoting global nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation by engaging with decision-makers in a constructive manner and promoting public awareness.

TLG
The Top Level Group is made of UK parliamentarians who advocate multilateral nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation and includes almost all of the former senior Ministers of foreign affairs and defence over the last two decades and former Chiefs of Defence Staff who served during the same period.
